This 1982 Ford Bronco is the premium XLT Lariat version of this 4×4
And today it still upholds the two ideas of a go-anywhere SUV that’s also loaded with all the best features – including V8 power and an A/C interior. So dig into the details on a sharp-looking classic SUV that’s also a solid cruiser.
This is one of the most iconic-looking generations of the F-Series/Bronco from the last half-century. And this one is done with distinction. The factory-correct Raven Black was resprayed later in life. They added the right amount of premium sophistication by upgrading it to a tasteful two-tone with gray. And utilizing a red pinstripe for a dividing like is a masterstroke of style. It has a good gloss that shows off the good care in the body panels, and even the hardtop is even painted to coordinate. But as a true Bronco, this one has the look and features that don’t shy away from real SUV duty. After all, this is quite handy with newer off-road tires, wide towing mirrors, and a trailer hitch. And you just know that a fold-down tailgate is perfect for everything from ball games to campsites.
The upscale XLT interior also means a nice interior finished in comfortable and detailed cloth. Fold-down armrests, a center console, and a full gauge pack on the dash give you a commanding driving position. And this has a large back seat and plenty of cargo room for everyone’s gear. You have great features like the power rear window, cup holders, heavy duty floor mats, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo with Bluetooth. There are even nice details including the smooth wood-like trim and working dome light. Plus, the factory A/C blows cold with modern R134a refrigerant, and so that makes it even more appealing to take off the rear hardtop and open this one up to the world.
Under the hood is Ford’s hardy 302 cubic-inch V8. You can spot plenty of newer components that signal good maintenance. And the way this V8 fires up and runs reaffirms the impression of quality care. So while we don’t know if this is the original engine or mileage, you can already tell there is a level of care and investment that keeps it a strong-runner today. A two-speed transfer case keeps this a true 4×4. But the appeal here is also for an easy time on the road with power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a three-speed automatic transmission.
